Looking for a first-time moped~!

Hi, I'm Alex and a friend steered me this-a way as far as moped info goes. I'm looking to buy one for traveling to and from work, since St. Louis' many-many hills are destructive upon my persons. My price range is $~300, possibly less as I've got plans to save for some repair parts if need be.

o3o I'll take a stab at the Tomos on CL. If I'm able to nab that'n or some other, would I be able to lure someone into an assisted fixup? I can provide a case of the beers as payment~! I'm no good at mechanics but'm really trying to learn.

No dice at the Craigslist deal. Someone's gonna get there tomorrow and I have work. Blah! But hey! I'm still looking for a moped then. :D Beer and merriment after I get one for anyone interested in teaching a newbie things and stuff! Possibly schtuff. Egads!

I don't know who has one for sale (mine are mostly incomplete) but I personally recommend the Vespa Piaggio Moped to start with.  It worked for me.  The engine is pretty simple, parts sources are not too bad, only one or two "special" tools required (I got by with none of them).  I started with a basic Bravo and have since built a signal-equipped bravo, and I just finishing up a Grande before I build a basic Ciao for my wife to learn on.
