I have some fa stuff. Might be able to test with. I wouldn't be suprised if it waa the kill switch or the key.

Did you try cleaning the ground wire? Its located just under the seat, exposed enough to where the nut gets nasties underneath it. Also timing it would probably help alot, and seting the points would help too. I'd say, clean all your contacts first, then see where you end up.

(the same thing happened to my fa50)

I don't know how different the FZ is from the FA but here is a manual online.  It worked for me on my FS.

You may know this already, but FA50's require you to hold the brake on to start it.

Is this a three speed manual shift bike. I saw one somefin like it at the BM rally this year. As stated earlier, clean the points with some sandpaper and try for spark with what you have before you start replacing schtuff.

"little metal part"? replace the coil for sure, it looked busted and then hardwire it... fuck the turn signals and lights for now... check for spark.  clean the points too (sand paper between them ... in and out... in and out, repeat like 30x)... check the timing... once you get spark clean the carb and put fresh 2 stroke oil in the oil injection tank... probably want to put new oil in the tranny as I think we drained it before you put it in katie's car???? I don't remember, check for sure because running it w/o oil would be baaaaaaad.
