uh, I did that, and there was nothing more ridiculous to me than finding the weight of the earth because I didn't care how much the earth weighed.  I care how much this clutch shoe weighs.

Stock 2-shoe e50 clutch adjustment?
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:41:14 PM »

So what's a good rule of thumb on spring tension for a stock 2-shoe? I have mine too tight right now and was wondering how many turns out is a good place for a kitted bike?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate the helps I get here. I love you guys. XOXO.

Tighten all the way, then back out 720 degrees as a starting point.  Squeeze and feel that there is equal tension on both.  The key is to get them to engage at the same time, or your clutches will die sad deaths rather quickly.  Ride it, tighten or losen from there.

The nice thing about two shoes is you can squeeze both of the arms at the same time. Thumb on one arm, finger on the other.  Then watch that they both move the same.  Can do that as well with a three shoe.

I'd try to get them to slip like crazy first then back off from there.  You really want those high RPMs to get your shit slipping and then ripping. It's kinda of a pain swapping it out so many times to adjust, but it's worth it.  720 is a good starting point but I think if you tightened it more you might like what you find.  Oh and stiff springs are a must.

Stiffer springs in a two shoe are a bad idea. the springs they come with are practically perfect.

Warps the fuck outta the whole clutch. orsoiveread.

I had blue springs in a two-shoe for a little bit, never engaged as high as my blue sprung three-shoe. Probably (definitely) due to the shoe weight. I DID lighten a two-shoe once (Tom, you rode it on my first Maxi at the KC rally last year), and it did really well with the 50cc KStar WHICH I STILL WANT BACK PLZ

That maxi was fun.
That Maxi was built back when mopeds were fun for me. Things got WAY too serious when the Metrakit. Hopefully I can start heading back in the 'fun' direction again.

I can't do a beater bike. My emotions dictate that I need nice paint. Fun and low maintenance are what I'm looking for at the moment. I might've found the answer, though. Maybe?
