 Not the best way to get rid of a dog. You should have done it like this.

 Who wants my Basset Hound? he is the best dog on the planet, he does not eat much and he can give him self a bath. He has a job walking old people across the street so he does bring home a pay check, he also is great with cats and walks himself. He is a wonderfull watch dog, and retreveid several stolen mopeds. i will also pay for his vet bills for life.

 That would have worked better i bet.

I really like basset hounds but my kids are rough on dogs.  They have grown up with a black & tan coon hound that takes being pulled and jumped on like a champ.
