I run stop signs all day long. Most mopeds dont have much low end so its just easer to roll right on through.

So did you actually run the red light?  Did you stop and then go through it?

if you stopped and waited for a "reasonable" amount of time, then you should be in the clear.... Just have to figure out what is "reasonable"

I find 0 seconds to be perfectly reasonable.

You have to come to a 'complete, non-rolling" stop. Then if the way is clear (that means no oncoming traffic from left or right) The  you may proceed. This applies to motorscooters, motorcycles AND mopeds as our machines do not have the mass to trigger the in-pavement sensors.

And those "triggering devices" they sell on eBlay to "make your bike trigger like a car" aren't worth the time. A riding buddy of mine has 2 of those on his Burgman...and they don't work.

some blinking bicycle lights will trigger the emergency cameras and cause a green.   Strong magnets can do it too, my electric bikes will trigger em.

NAhhh...those magnets don't really work. One of the St. Louis Scooter Club guys I know had 2 of those things on the bottom of his 650 Burgman...and they didn't do a thing.

What you need is weight!

Sub-pavement signal loops are actually just large magnetic sensors. Weight doesn't factor into the equation. You just need a large (enough) mass of ferrous metal to trip the loop sensor. Some are set more sensitive than others, for reasons unknown to me. My father was a traffic signal technician for the city of Leavenworth for like 7 years, so my information comes straight from the source. Seek the source!

Also, I have noticed that they're starting to put motion sensors on top of the signals instead of loops in the pavement, at least around here. It's been great, I can actually go places without waiting for two years for a green light.
