Need help in Missouri, and am willing to pay
« Reply #1 on: May 17, 2010, 07:03:26 PM »

Hey guys,

We’ve been on this moped trip across America now for 9 days. We are in southeastern Missouri, a little town called Ironton. Here’s the story:

Three days ago, in Kentucky, my oil injection system went out on me, and the engine seized a little. I immediately started mixing, but had obviously lost some zing. We got another 200-300 miles and arrived here in Ironton, when my moped finally kicked the bucket for good. We really want to continue this trip, and I know that there is a Tomos dealer in Springfield, MO, that can service me.  Also, I know that you guys are in St. Louis and all really awesome with mopeds.

Are there ANYBODY out there that would be willing to haul us and our peds to St. Louis or Springfield or even PART of the way to those places? We would be willing to pay all gas mileage plus a little extra.

Or willing to help in any other way? Please let us know.

570-971-8214 Jared or Milton will answer.

How many mopeds are you traveling with?

You are about 1.5 hours from St Louis.

I suck at mopeds, but I could get you to St Louis if that would help you any.  I don't have a place for you to stay, though...

I have a tray that mounts behind my wife's car to put the mopeds on... nothing fancy, fits two peds at most.

Wife wants me to ask if you are recently showered before she will let me give you a ride in her car... hahaha.  sorry, but that's funny!

I can help tonight or tomorrow night.

Any chance to get to Ironton is normally good with me, but I just had a little baby so I'm stuck. Depending on your problem, I met a guy at either twin rivers landing or bearcat (campgrounds, and I was drunk and more) who is a small engine savant. he had some crazy riding lawn mower that would do wheelies. Ask around, He's in Lesterville, and everybody knows everybody else. I wish you luck. Check out the Johnsons Shut Ins and Elephant rocks when you get running. You will not regret.

After you get fixed up, you should come through Columbia, KC, and Lawrence. This trip sounds pretty epic; it'd be great to meet you guys.

hey there. i was refered to this site, but not really sure what i can use it for. i have a beautiful 78' Puch. i am new to the moped thing, and would like to find a way to get more out of it considering that it is my primary form of transportation. it hovers around 30, but if i could get it to max at around 40 id feel alot better about taking it down busy streets. thanks

Come to Fix-it Day, every Sunday from 1pm-....?

Or, I'll be at the shop tonight, if you want to cruise on down. We can talk shop.

IRE (your local St. Louis moped crew) can help you get it to 40 and beyond, if you so wish. They're also super nice, rad people. As Tom said, go to one of their fix-it days, and you'll see.
