Hi Its Me.
« on: April 04, 2010, 01:15:59 AM »

I am sure there have been a few of you on here that have been wondering who I am so I thought I would do a little introduction or what not.

My name is Rob, I live in Morrison,IL almost right on the Iowa/IL border. I'm 34, married and have a baby girl due here June 30th.

I have met a few of you in person already. I was at Peddy Cash's rally in Chicago last year. I stayed at the Heart O Chicago hotel with some friends and IRE* was staying there also. I was the tall guy with the mo-hawk and we were the ones with the Honda Elite's.

I met a lot of cool people from IRE* while we stayed there and even though we were frowned on some because we were on scooters by a few people we still had a blast!

My friends and I went out to eat with Rick and some guys at White Castle and Rick bought us some burgers, a female member of IRE* loaned us a lock and chain for the night (Sorry I forgot your name). Mark told me the whole story about being shot.

Everyone in IRE* was really good to us and it was appreciated. Thanks for letting us join in on some good times with you guys. I met a lot of really good people that weekend.

When I was in high school I had a Peugeot 103 with a long seat on it and have found memories of riding it everywhere. It was sold at a garage sale because my parents wanted it out of the garage after I broke a ring and had no idea where to get another one (And I was broke). I hoped the next person would of done something good with it, it was sold for like $25bucks. I saw it about 4 years later in a police impound lot and not long after that it was gone. I never saw it again.

I also had a few expresses,6 wheelers,go carts, stuff like that growing up. While in Chicago at the rally I bought a Maxi because the moped bug was really kicking in.

So I have been on these forums lurking for awhile. I have learned a lot here. I have PM'd a few people on here over the year and have had a lot of support and answers to questions I have.

Mark,Tom, MikeB, thanks for all the help I have received from you guys! I know sometimes some of my questions may seem dumb but the help is appreciated.

Here is a picture of my Maxi right after I got her home from Chicago:

I will post a more current picture of it when I am on my other PC. I am putting a ZA50 in it with a 60cc Athena with a Dellorto 19mm clone.

I am planning on being at a few rallys this year and I will look forward to seeing friends I have made and meeting other cool people.

-Rob

Thanks, it is not mint but in decent shape. I will get some more pictures of it as it comes together. Being my first kitted ped and thinking that I may ruin the bore some how or another I went with a 60cc Athena and high comp head. I have a 19mm Phbg clone on order. I received a Treats CDI today. I have a ZA50 and a pipe coming from Motion Left.

That was a long night for you guys building that thing in the parking lot, it was worth it though and that thing sure did rip! I remember talking to you some that night but tried to stay out of your way as I knew you wanted to get chit done.

Wow Matt, yes I remember you too. I remember your truck and talking to you about it. That is crazy what happened to you with your wreck and all. I hope things are going well for you. If this Puch gets done I would be interested in coming to your guy's rally.

I dont know what kind of shape you would be in but I could bring one of my Elite's with for you to ride. Probably about just as hard on you to ride one as a ped except theres a big comfy seat and you have more option on relaxing your feet. (Its like riding a padded seat toilet you know)
I hope you get well soon man!

So I am still hanging around here. Mark is sending me a chain for my Maxi-N, and he showed me pictures of his N. So Its my turn to show a couple of pictures:

Here is my N:

I have done nothing to it yet since I bought it about 2 weeks ago. I washed it as it had been in a barn for a few years. I also got a Newport at the same time which went to my buddy.

Here is the Newport I picked up. It was complete with the side covers which are off right now. Bike was washed but that was about it, got her running and she does an honest 27mph.

My Maxi in the first picture of this thread is still unfinished, I will finish it up this winter. We had a baby girl about 6 weeks ago and I find myself with less and less time on my hands. It will get done in time though.

I'm building that Maxi and working on my Honda scoot at the same time among other projects. The Puch got a ZA50, Athena 60cc/Treats CDI/MLM Pipe/19 PHBG. I am slowly getting it together, however I am thinking it will get a Polini 64cc instead of the Athena. We will see.

This is how it is looking right now, obviously a long ways from done:

I got the motor for my scoot almost done. I will bolt it back in here within the week. The motor mount needs finished up as I stretched it 4 inches.  Its a Honda AF16, also called a Dio. It has a Malossi MHR aluminum 72cc bore/ CT intake / 28mm Keihn carb among other things. Here is how it sits right now:

Thanks Matt. I'm not saying what I paid for it, but it was a pretty good deal. I'm stoked to have it.

Yeah it should go pretty good. I will post pictures of it when I start getting the thing back together. It should be fairly quick, more so since I'm to broke to do a gear change right now. I have a PG sectional pipe for it. The motor has got a Daytona fan in it, aluminum PG flywheel, Kelli variator, and a Kelli clutch among other odds and ends.

I'm anxious to ride it as it has been awhile. I will start putting it back together as soon as I get my motor mount done. It got stretched 4 inches.

Here is how my Elite looked before I tore it down:

So I extended my engine mount 4 inches:

Back together and this is how it is looking right now:

Welcome, i used to have an 80cc Honda Elite, I miss it as a reliable source of transportation. We have only been riding mopeds for about a year. Im the guy everyone loves to hate. Mark is my Moped Guru. We have been riding motorcycles and scooters though for many years. Check out the rally info! 15 more days!!!!!!! Sept 24th-26th  In columbia Missouri. This will be our first rally. My fiance' and I are really looking forward to the experience. Fun, Fun! We will be riding two stock ciao's that only do a modest 25mph. I hope we are not the only two riding stock mopeds. Dont want to get left behind. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Stock bikers need not fret, you will have company in the back. Plus you'll get to be smug when you pass blown up kitted bikes.

I will be going to the rally this weekend for sure. My buddy Cody will be with me riding my yellow Elite. He was with me when I was at the Peddy Cash rally last year. I know I will be out casted a little bit for bringing the scoots. I wish I had one of my peds done to bring with but its just not going to happen.

Anyways if you see me say hello or something, shit on me for riding a scoot or something. We are both pretty laid back guys.

So anyways Here is how my Honda changed over the past couple of months:

Here are four of the 5 Honda's I owned at the beginning of the year. The orange one is the one I will be riding, its red now though:

This is how it looks right now, the pipe is off in the picture:
