The best thing you can do about giving blood is to go to your local Red Cross and donate there. The stuff Matt's getting transfused is coming from the blood bank pool, and he's getting exactly what the doctors think he needs. Unless it's a really rare blood type (and then the docs will take the blood from his family etc.) it's better to refill the coffers.

So when's the IRE ride to the Red Cross?

GREAT NEWS MATT! SO GLAD TO HEAR IT! Hang in there. My favorite thing to do in the Hospital was to take lots of naps. I really hope all the surgeries go well. I'm always thinking about you, and hoping for the best. :)

A big email with the Chipin account was sent out to all the employees of Elsevier.  Hopefully it'll bring more cash in.

Yeah, my manager, who also was Matt's manager at May Company, contacted a bunch of people that Matt used to work with.  So there should be even more yet to come.

Also I was approached by 2 other employees who were wanting help with things if we need it. I told them that we have it covered but if we do a benefit show, they could help with something. Just a thought.

Wow, that's awesome!
I have gotten a lot better the last couple of days. I can get in and out f a wheelchair, I took a real shower this morning! I am pushing my body as far as I can so I can get out of rehab and at least back at my parents house and do outpatient rehab.
My parents house is fully handicap assessable so my bones can finish up there.

Nothing makes me appreciate quite how bad that must suck like knowing how much I hate being half as injured as you were (yet complaining twice as much) and how annoyed I'd be (and have been and will be) if the doctors told me something like that.

I hope the graft goes well and heals up both quickly and properly!

Dude this sucks, Hope you heal up, and get back on the road soon...

This is a sad reminder of how many bad drivers there are out there... Just remember to wear all your safety equipment, and look both ways when crossing ANY street. Hopefully this reminder will coax some of the more stubborn of the fellow mopeders out there to ride safely! (Not saying Matt didnt, or doesnt)

surgery went ok, at least they didn't kill me. there wasn't enough bone to steal from my hip so i have some  dead guys bone too. they decided to replace the metal plate while they were in there, so i have three sets of staples, one from harvesting bone, one from removing and replacing screws, and one where they fixed the hole in my femur. they also cut an artery and had to get a vascular surgen to sew it up. so it was a long surgery, about 5 hours, and it hurt about 10 tiimes as much as i thought it would,  but i am starting to feel better now.
i found out there was more nerves damaged in my right arm, so that explains why it is so useless. just got to wait a few more months to see if it will heal itself.
