Exhaust Question
« on: February 06, 2010, 04:39:00 PM »

On of the guys in the O'Fallon group has a Yamaha QT 50 scooter, and he found a preformance exhaust that will fit on it, but this particular exhaust was not designed for the qt 50 model.    Will this work for him when he rejets the carb?

Thanks in advance for your ideas and help!

seeing as it bolts onto the cylinder and seals well, and that you can make sure the rear mount is supportive enough, rejetting the carb should give some improvement to the QT50, then you start getting into expansion chamber size, and how well everything flows.

ANYTHING you do to that stock exhaust (besides a wide-open pipe) will be an improvement.

this pipe(I made a long time ago) we bolted it to a QT, and it would cruz at 40 with no re jeting. I think it was rich in the first place, and the exhaust port was hogged out to 20mm
shown here on a FA50, but is now on the QT

just keep in mind that stock-ish 50's turn much slower then moded out kits, so get the longest pipe you can (that still fits).

you want that pipe to kick-in pretty low.
