It's been too quiet around here lately. Let's talk and stuff. I was thinking back about where I was with mopeds a year ago, and dang, it's been a helluva year.
At this time last year, I had bought the FS 4 months ago, and it was in a million pieces. I was working on rebuilding the engine so I could throw on my first kit. The Swinger was my good, fast, uber-reliable bike. The Tomos still had the Dellorto POSha on there with a piece of hose as an intake -- although it actually ran pretty well like that for about two weeks before performance disintegrated. I had MAYBE just met Beez, back when he was on the Elite 150 and had the Moby 7, and back when we were the "Lawrence Municipal Moped Club." I might also have just met Daryl too, and he was on a green Express II, and Kenden was rockin' the Razz. We went up to KC at least once a week all summer to go ride, and a few of us went to the BM rally. Justin's birthday party at a Chinese buffet in KC was where we talked to the diabetic homeless (?) dude who invented the name "Cold Trailers."
Two years ago at this time, I was gearing up to go to KZoo with the Breakfast Mafia -- my first rally ever, on my completely stock (except for a high flow air filter) Swinger. I met Mike P, Tom, Alex, and Ryne when we went to that rally, and that rally convinced me that stock was dumb, prompting me to put a pipe on the Swinger. I also had the blue Tomos, but it didn't run. July of that year, I left for 5 months to go to Costa Rica, making me miss the BM rally by a week.
