so Jimmie and I came back a little earlier than we could have, and although fixit was moved to Mikes, Spencer needed a socket and the the piston lock, which is probably still in his motor and 2 new guys(mark and Adam)  showed up with their bikes, and so  we tinkered and Bingo help/watched and my new green puch peed.
And Ellie fixed 3 things on her Solex...

Gritzner is the brand and brummi is the model. all it says is that gritzner made they're own engines for a while basically then has a sachs motor in the 50"s. look at the back wheel on the pic on the bottom. that smaller wheel inside, that's the driven pulley. before the moped transmission was invented. another model is monza

that pulley is called a sheeve, I believe,,its screwed direct to the spokes, look at simpsonmotorbikes,,,they're doin a kit thing like that...I'd love to build one of those boardtrack racers, the chinese motors just don't look right to me though, I'd like to find a mill from the period too.

boardtrack racer bikes look awesome. I agree about the chinese motors though, just seems like it would rattle off in one ride...

look sweet though;

Banger has built a few of those chinese kit bikes, he had an idea for dolling up the  flat side covers to give em a little more character,  I have thought to use a maytag washer motor, there is a 2 cyclinder 2 stroke opposed engine out there from the 30/50s, I saw one mounted to an old 50 simplex motobike, it got it.

Mike if you buy one, you have to ride it like Deezy...naked.

This dude in KC has an old timers bike, with a motor on the hub, dont really know what it is, but its surely awsome. I'll try and get him to let me take some pictures of it.

Crap!

Yes, Mark, I still have the piston stop in my motor, sorry bout that. I may be able to bring by some day this week.

I'd been staring at the ZA for two weeks or more thinking about buying more tools, then Mark saved me by having everything I could need and helping me get those rotted pucks out and fresh ones in. I wished my family could live in your garage.

As noted in my WTF thread. i got home, cleaned out all the rest of the rubber bits and immediately forgot what washers and shims went where. You tube here I come.

thanks go out to all of you for helping me with the commuter

i cant wait until it, the pug103 and the batavus all ride up together....

for those who dont know, i ride that bike (when running) from barnhart to downtown and beyond, i ride it crazy

a big ride to me is like 80 miles, i think the 3 of us are gonna go on one, maybe farmington or cape...

we even have a buddy with a large pickup to run support...

our next ride will be sponsored by steve-o-meter.com and have free gas/oil for riders and cold soda and water... we haven't picked a date yet, but we are gonna webcast the ride from the dashboard of the support truck... when our bikes are done and ready we will pick a date

with all the electronics i have, and the smartphone it will be cool, virtual roadtrip video...

we will be working on this, i've even looked into getting special signs for the back of the pickup to say 'do not pass, mopeds ahead' and what legal stuff is involved with that...

if i make a big enough ride the first time (thinking 10 is a lot) i would be down to keep doing rides with my site sponsoring... maybe tshirts could be fun too....

Steveometer, there isn't a specific forum for rides.  We usually just post ride talk in the general forum.  It may not be a bad idea to make a ride-specific one.  Hrmmm..

I am an admin here.  There are 3 more.  The 4 of us have server access to run the site outside the forums too.  It's a shared server I rent space on for this site, wikilou.com, 30dayssg.com, and mjp2.org so far...  If you care for all that detail.  haha
