Moped sighting in the Loop
« on: September 01, 2008, 04:13:25 PM »

While I was down at the Loop to briefly watch the Gateway Cup bike races, I noticed two mopeds locked up outside Blueberry Hill. One was a Puch and the other a brand I cannot recall.

Being a scooter fanatic, I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the scooters I saw..I saw two Vespas parked on Westgate and a Yamaha scoot parked near Blueberry Hill.

I hope to meet some of you one day.

At one time I thought about getting a Tomos moped at ETS.

Are they difficult to learn to ride?

Was the other one with the Puch a blue Vespa Bravo?  If so, then Glen and Becky were there.

I'm going to show up at your meeting in a week, and maybe bring some IREfolk with me.

I've never ridden a Tomos, but I have a feeling they're just like all other mopeds.  Pedal, pull the clutch, twist the throttle.  You'll be topping out at 30mph in no time.  No shifting, or any of that fancy stuff.  If you can ride your 2006 Vespas and Piaggio, you'll be more than fine on a moped.

Oh, but if you do get a Tomos from ETS, make sure you get one with pedals (they sell them with and without them).  Otherwise it's just a moped without pedals.  Then you're in that halfway land between scooters and mopeds.  The land of nopeds.  ::shudder::
