Street Warrior Rally 2009
« on: February 19, 2009, 02:07:49 PM »

okay i know but i have to work on this shit:(..... i guess the first things first what dates are we looking at....July is WAY TO HOT!!  I am trying to get the band locked down. so here is what i usually start with

1.  Route
    A. Start and end
    B. duration
    C. who is point, chase, and rear (no jokes please) etc etc....there is more but this is just the examples how i lay stuff out.
2.  Meet and greet & after party
    A. before party or a ride maybe (usually night before)?
    B. Band
    C. rally packs? tshirts? buttons? argh my head hurts!
3. Housing

there is more but this is the start point.  I don't like anyone to commit to more 2 things so we don't get stretched thin.  Let me know who would like to work on what.  I am going to handle this a lot different this year.  Years before we had sponorship....still might.  I have an "in" with RedBull and maybe Powerade.  I am going to look into this.  If anything they can show up during and give a us free red bull and stuff!  Let me know if anyone has any other ideas! I'm open to suggestions .

SIncerly,
Don Chuck

I you are looking for a band, I am in one.  We are playing a show in Louisville the weekend of the BB rally.  Check us out on myspace.  The name of the band is Celebrity Autopsy.

Well, let's see here... summer-ish dates that aren't already taken by some other rally:

-May 15-17 (this is a bad weekend... lots of graduations and stuff)
-May 29-31 (right after Kzoo)
-June 5-7 (right before Cincinnati)
-June 19-22 (okay, there's a rally in New Hampshire that weekend, but I don't think we'd be planning on driving to New Hampshire for a rally anyway)
-July 3-5 (ugg, 4th weekend)
-July 10-12 (right before Chicago)
-July 31-Aug 2 (right before Puddle Cutters rally)
-August 14-16 (right before Ghost Ride)
-August 28-30 (right after Ghost Ride)
-September 4-6 (okay, there's a rally in New York that weekend, but again, what's the chances we were all gonna drive to NY?)
-September 11-13
-September 18-20 (right before Guns rally)

If we want to avoid a ridiculously hot July rally, then would we be looking at like, May? Early June? Late August/September? I'd rather have a rally when I don't have class, but that's just me. I'll make time for mopeds no matter what. ('Cuz mopeds are totally way more fun than school!) Of the dates I listed, I'd be inclined to pick a weekend that isn't right before or after another nearby rally. I gotta figure that people aren't gonna want to drive from far away to go to Chicago one weekend, then drive to KC (relatively nearby) the next. Also, some  of that plays off of whichever rallies we want to go to -- if we're going to a rally one weekend (and I'm assuming we'd try to hit up the closer ones), I don't think we'd want to host our own the very next weekend. Based on that criteria alone, I think my favorites would be either of the June dates or July 31-Aug 2. I bet those are still gonna be hot, though.

Beyond that, I'd be happy to help with the route - maybe not planning it, since I don't know KC that well, but mapping it, perhaps? Depending on when we do this, I may have access to fancy mapping programs and crap, although if we've always gotten along fine without it, I don't know why we'd have to have it now. (This would be dependent them actually teaching me practical things about the use of this fancy software... so far that's a work in progress). I could also work on rally packs or I could try to organize housing or something. Pretty much I'll do anything, except don't put me on the party committee unless you want the party to be lame.

well we are going to moktober fest this year NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!  Linda I'll leave the date up to you:)!!  I am fine for whatever.  Let me know when you can!  I am going to call Jessica to see if her uncle will do the show(depending on the dates).  If he can we might want to get a venue to host it.  I know a few that will do it free for us:) If not I know a place that is a basement that does shows.  So we don't have to worry about all the crap you have with regular venues.  I  know that red bull will show up no matter what.  I'll talk to the girl tonight about it. I would just like to say Linda we all heart you:).

I am sure Andrew will do most of the route this year (not sure have to ask him). I know he definitely can use some help.  I'll ask andy to print out the maps this year. I just need something so he can print from.  last year we used highlighters. If I am luck maybe even a banner:P

Phil I'll check out your myspace but since you are a fellow mopeder you should do the show anyway.  How much do you charge for a show? either way email me lets work some details out.  I can't promise much since most of the time I do these rallies with no money or the sponsors pays for it:).  Lets see what we can do.

As for the rally packs...I am going green this year.  I say we get a bunch of shirts from goodwill and spray paint them! Well there is still time so!

What? No! We can't leave the date up to me! That would require me to be decisive. I'm not a decisive person!! Ahhhh!!!

We could vote on dates, and then I wouldn't have to be decisive. Or you could see if the person who you want to do the show can do some of those dates but not others, and then we could vote on whichever dates they can do. I'm bored; I'll make a calendar and attempt to post it. Maybe that'll help visualize, or we can use it to collect votes or something. Or it'll just give me something "productive" to do so I don't feel bad about continuing to ignore all my homework.

I kinda figured that Andrew or someone who actually knew KC would plan the route, but I'll help however I can. At the very least, I'm down to ride the route as much as possible beforehand :) If I end up thinking I can do something interesting with the maps, I'll shout out, and if not, I'll bring some highlighters.

The Spokesmen bought goodwill shirts and silk-screened them themselves. It didn't look too hard, so I bet we could do that too if we wanted.

Okay, let's see how much of a fail this is going to be.

I marked all the rally dates that are listed on the main page, and then I marked the weekends where there isn't anything (nearby) with "OPEN." The weekends that I personally think are less desirable say "OPEN" in red, the weekends that I think are more desirable are marked in green, and the weekends that would probably work but which I like just slightly less because I'll have class are marked in blue. Or well, it was supposed to be blue. It's kind of hard to tell now.

So yeah, there it is. I still like the vote concept because then I am not responsible for making decisions. I'd say that we could vote online and I'll tally, but seeing as how there are approximately five BM representatives who ever post on this site, that wouldn't be the most diplomatic solution. Chuck, I know you see/talk to everyone a lot. Not to foist this off on you or anything, but maybe if you see/talk to people who don't get online much, can you shove some dates in their face/ear and get some opinions? I'm totally okay with it if you just invent opinions for them based on your own personal preferences, so long as I can still pretend to be consolidating opinions rather than picking something.

If you guys want me to do something you should just ask. I kinda like the idea of shirts, maybe button downs with the sleeves torn off. We could act all mid coast hot shit and stuff. lol. I'd vounteer to do shirts, dont know too much about how to do them but I'm sure in the next month I could make one or a few as demo's..

Anyways I'll help out wherever help is needed. I guess it was about that time last year when I ended up meeting everyone... so this year I'll help in hopes of meeting new people from the KC area.

My prefence on dates is end of May, end of July.. end of august.. beggining of september.

I don't have any kind of preference for the KC rally, I'll be there no matter.

What if we get her a loaner, and bake you a big cake, and give you a VW bus to rock all night, and hand craft you some special anniversary beers, and have a giant toast to the Malguti family with pyrotechnics?  Eh?

Well, my personal favorite weekends are still June 5-7, June 19-21, and July 31-Aug 2. If you IRE people are gonna do yours in September, I think it'd be best for attendance and sanity purposes if we stayed out of September altogether. Kevin, I know you said your preference was end of May or end of July... I guess July 31-Aug 2 is kind of end of July, but it's also the beginning of August, and it's also gonna be really frickin' hot then. Early June is like, practically the same thing as end of May, right? ...

Chuck, have you talked to the band(s)/band contacts? If we know when they'd be able to play, we could try to plan around their schedule. I mean, technically ANY weekend is open -- I just figured that if we planned a rally on or too close to another (nearby-ish) rally, not as many people would show up, or we'd be so stressed out and broke from just getting back from a rally that we went to that we wouldn't have as much fun at our own. The red/green stuff is all just subjective guesswork on my part trying to anticipate other people's and our own schedule, so you don't really have to pay attention to it. Your guess is gonna be better than mine about how tired everyone is gonna be, or where we're going, or how many people are gonna show up.

If you wanna practice making shirts at all, we definitely need some plain ol' Breakfast Mafia shirts just for wearing whenever. I don't have a design or anything, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

before you do anything kevin....lets get together and figure out what we want on it.  Unless you are just printing out the egg face logo t-shirts.  That would rock my socks off....for right now.  I have a design for this years logo.  Its going to be a lot like a "tank Girl" like image.  I am starting on the sketches this week.  Fun times i should by the bulk aspirin this year cause I can already feel the headache! :)
