New Places to Ride
« on: February 13, 2009, 02:07:25 PM »

Tom is being a whiny bitch about us always going to the same places.  But I agree with him.  Lets plan some new rides.

I want to go explore Calvary and Bellefontaine cemeteries, and find that Mound memorial rock dealie.

Where you wanna go?

I want to swarm a county and hit Illinois on a nice day.

Further rides with a destination!

Some nice Saturday I would like to take an epic ride all the way down Midland to my parents house in Bridgeton.

Mike, you with me?

Bee Tree is right by my parent's place. I'd be wary of Telegraph just b/c people drive absolutely nuts on it but then again I am a baby.

I used to take day long hikes with friends starting at Bee Tree along the railroad tracks and to a cave then all along the river.

I'm in, Annie.

See, I just hate leaving the city.  In Illinois we're even more illegal than we are here, and County cops are douchebags.  I just don't want to deal with the popo.

We have all of the northside to explore here.  And lots of the southside too...

It'll be way faster if we take 55 down to Bee Tree.

I love riding to CC Park. It's a lot of fun!

The only sketch part is when you're heading south on Dorsett around 270, but if we kept the pack tight it would be fine...

I've ridden that route to Bee Tree Park on my SR50. The only really awful part is the tremendous hill up Telegraph, where you start @ a stoplight. When I rode it back, I actually beat the folks in cars that were traveling to the same place in Forest Park.

Midland is a nice, slow road. It's also pretty scenic, at least till you get to the Rock Road.

I still have never gone to Crown Candy. I wanna go!

Hey Tom, Dorsett's a E-W street...you mean going West, right? There's lots of fun roads that way too, but it's awfully close to Chesterfield...

There's a bunch of really awesome hills and twisties out towards Ballwin and Castlewood SP. If you take Big Bend the whole way, it's a reall

Is it? I thought it ran perpendicular to 364? I know midland runs e/w and dorsett becomes Midland, so that makes sense...

Riding down Manchester wouldn't be bad either.

Depends on the time of day. A nice weekend morning = Good. Any other time = Bad.

Psh.  Ryne and I took Manchester all the way to Chesterfield on a Monday morning at rush hour on barely running stock bikes that kept dying in the 12 degree weather.

We didn't die.

The section from Kingshighway is nice and dead a lot of time.  This is what I have been using with the 40 mess.  That is what made me think of it.

i take manch to get to my parents' house, which is sadly next to plaza frontenac. i hate going out there, but it's a totally fine road to take, if you have to go out there, which i hate doing. did i mention that i dislike leaving the city?

We can also go to the Maplewood/webster area.  Cruze down the River Des Peres. It's a good ride especially from Marks.  Not to mention Llewellans pub is there, good food/beer.

There is an old cemetary out by the airport that would be fu to ride to. Its an old potters field and rummor is they would bury people and then dig it up later to re-use the coffin. So after it rains real hard you can find bones and stuff. One part is an overgrown forrest with hidden graves in it. I used to hang out there a lot whin I was a kid.
